Lab Operations Associate

Genesis Therapeutics is pioneering artificial intelligence guided rational drug design to address severe unmet medical needs for patients. We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive lab operations associate to provide operational and wet lab support for the San Diego laboratories. This is a full-time position in a fast-paced biotech environment with a collegial group of high level colleagues working towards well-defined goals.

What you will do:

Provide operations support by performing the following duties:

  • Inventory Management: Ordering and maintaining stocks of lab supplies, chemicals, and equipment.

  • Equipment Management: Overseeing equipment maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and ensuring proper user training.

  • Safety and Compliance: Enforcing sage and compliant disposal of hazardous and biological waste.

  • Lab Upkeep: Maintaining a clean, organized, and functioning laboratory space.

  • Shipping and Receiving: Coordinating the sage and secure shipment and receipt of samples, research materials, and equipment.

Provide biology and chemistry wet lab support by performing the following duties:

  • Manage mammalian cell line inventory and documentation including mycoplasma testing and STR profiling results.

  • Assist in routine laboratory procedures such as making buffers and performing mycoplasma testing on received samples.

  • Maintaining chemical reagent inventory including cataloging reagents as well as returning and organizing reagents.

  • Manage dry ice, liquid nitrogen and CO2 tank deliveries.

What you will bring:

  • B.A./B.S. or M.S. in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/Chemistry or related discipline with 1-2+ years industry lab management experience.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Be a self-starter, quick learner with the ability to work independently and efficiently.

  • Familiarity with basic tissue culture maintenance and experience with chemical handling including weighing, measuring and solvating is preferred.

  • Procurement/purchasing experience is preferred.
