About the position

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, including procurement of equipment and supplies during emergencies.
  • In a psychiatric setting, aid patients in reality orientation, participate in behavior modification plans, provide informal support therapy, and monitor therapeutic milieu activities.
  • Observe, collect, and document patient information while providing care, reporting significant changes to a registered nurse or physician.
  • Assist patients and their families during admission, orientation, and discharge processes.
  • Provide care and treatments as outlined in the plan of care, including vital signs measurement, specimen collection, catheter care, and simple wound care.
  • Deliver direct personal care for daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and ambulation assistance.
  • Perform indirect care tasks including cleaning the work area, changing linens, re-stocking supplies, and transporting patients.
  • Reinforce routine teaching given to patients by registered nurses or physicians and document patient understanding.

Requirements

  • Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Fluent in verbal and written English language.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
