Job Overview

In this role, you will be part of our Information Designing group within the Disney Data and Systems Integration (DDSI) team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and executing ETL/ELT data pipelines, developing and implementing database schema/tables/views, and building batch processes using Apache Airflow. You will collaborate with our Studios or Project Technology teams to gather data requirements, validate data, and ensure seamless data integration across multiple environments, including DEV, QA/UAT, and Prod.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines using various technologies, including SQL, Python, Docker, Gitlab, Airflow, Snowflake, Looker, and PostgreSQL
  • Develop and implement database schema/tables/views to support data warehousing and business intelligence initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements, validate data, and ensure data quality and integrity
  • Work with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based, such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
  • Participate in driving best practices around data engineering and software development processes
  • Utilize Apache Airflow, Databricks, and other technologies to support data engineering initiatives

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • 2+ years of experience with SQL and data modeling
  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS and S3
  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, Gitlab, Airflow, AWS S3, and social databases
  • 2+ years of experience working with cloud platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases
  • Experience with Docker, Gitlab/Github, and large datasets

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications and skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience with Airflow, Gitlab, Snowflake, and Scene
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in the streaming, media, or digital marketing industry
