Title : Civil/Structural Engineer
Location : Remote

Essential Responsibilities

  • Civil/Structural engineer with expertise in design, construction, and modularization of Nuclear Island structures and components. The candidate must demonstrate strong working knowledge of static and dynamic analyses, including reinforced concrete design, structural steel design, and composite structure design.
  • Provide system design deliverables which include: system design specifications, performing structural analysis and calculations.
  • Perform design and analysis of Nuclear Power Plant Safety-Related Structures in accordance with the following codes: ASME B&PV Section III Division 2, AISC N690 code, and ACI 349 code.
  • Understand and analyze the effect of thermal stresses in the reactor containment and resolve overstress conditions.
  • Define hydrodynamic input loads for calculation of dynamic response of containment structure and the C/S design of reactor containment.
  • Develop engineering reports and licensing documentation.
  • Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, the NRC, and international regulatory authorities on technical issues.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the energy business (nuclear preferred) or equivalent technical environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct design, development, and deployment experience of power plants for complex, high reliability, and harsh environments or similar facilities in the power, process, or marine industries
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a program or technical leadership role
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with customers, regulators, and suppliers

Additional Desired Characteristics

  • Professional Engineer registration in one or more states
  • MS or PhD in Civil Engineering
  • Proven ability to think strategically, be creative, and move quickly

  • Working knowledge of ACI, ASCE, and AWS codes and standards
  • Experience with steel plate composite structures
