As a Manager & Counsel supporting Global Dining, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our dining strategy and ensuring that our legal framework supports our ambitious goals.

Role & Responsibilities: Leading Legal Support for Global Dining

As a seasoned attorney and strategic advisor, you'll be part of a team that provides day-to-day legal support to the Global Dining business. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating a diverse array of legal issues, from product development and business development initiatives to strategic negotiations, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing legal advice and strategic support to business clients on matters impacting the Global Dining strategy, including product roadmap, business development initiatives, and regulatory matters.
  • Drafting and negotiating a broad range of agreements, including partnership agreements for technology integrations, software licensing, data licensing agreements, vendor agreements, supplier agreements, and sponsorship agreements.
  • Supporting strategic initiatives and special projects that underpin American Express's Global Dining strategy, ensuring that legal considerations are seamlessly integrated into business decisions.
  • Building strong partnerships with business teams, GCO colleagues, and various stakeholders across the enterprise to mitigate legal, operational, regulatory, and reputational risks.
  • Developing subject matter expertise on laws and regulations impacting consumer-facing offers and benefits, including UDAAP, to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
  • Collaborating across the General Counsel's Organization to facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices, ensuring that our legal support is both effective and efficient.

Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong legal background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-intensive environment. Our ideal candidate has:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree and J.D. from an accredited institution.
  • Admission to practice law in New York in good standing.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal environment, with a proven track record of providing strategic legal advice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A high-energy, self-starting attitude with strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to handle multiple workstreams simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt to new responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in cross-functional team settings, with a keen eye for process improvements that enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • A proven ability to act as a trusted advisor to business teams, providing strategic guidance that aligns with business objectives.
  • Experience in technology transactions work, which is considered a plus.

Location: 200 Vesey St, New York, NY 10285. Our workplace flexibility model offers a hybrid arrangement, blending the benefits of in-office collaboration with the flexibility of virtual work.

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually, plus bonus and benefits. The actual salary will be determined based on factors such as location, experience, and job-related factors.
