About the Position

As a Program Supervisor, School-Age, you will play a key role in leading and developing our before and after school programs during the school year and day camp programs in the summer. You will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum, supervising and evaluating staff and volunteers, and maintaining professional relationships with families and the community. You will also be expected to work collaboratively with our team to ensure the success of our programs and services.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure planning and implementation of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum * Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate child care site staff/volunteers * Maintain required staff/child ratios * Professionally communicate with parents/guardians, including newsletters, individual parent communication, and parent/teacher conferences * Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures * Maintain professional relationships with families, facility/school personnel, and the community * Recruit new enrollments and work in partnership with the school to be an onsite partner with school staff and administration * Ensure that site supplies are maintained and purchased as necessary * May assist with developing and monitoring department budgets and responsible for managing the site budget * Ensure developmentally appropriate classrooms, including appearance, décor, and cleanliness of site * May supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety and to provide for a positive experience for each child * Purchase, prepare, and serve snacks * Attend staff meetings and trainings as required * Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Three years or more of experience working with children, camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying * One year or more of supervisory experience * High school graduate or equivalent * Have completed 30 credits of 100-level or above college-level coursework * Transcripts will be required during the offer stage to ensure applicants meet state licensing requirement pre-hire * 21 years of age or older * Ability to model and demonstrate Y values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty * Experience planning and implementing group activities * Preferred education/experience: + Knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.) + Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful + 45 credits of 100-level or above college-level coursework + Previous experience in school-age care programs and summer day camps
