About the Role

The Information Researcher - RWE will be responsible for conducting sophisticated data analysis to address critical business questions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver meaningful insights from real-world data sources. This role reports to the Chief, Clinical Information Science, and offers a dynamic and challenging environment where you can grow professionally and make a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mine raw data sets to deliver standardized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data sources or licensed platforms, analyze and interpret results, and help shape research methodologies.
  • Collaborate with various members of the Walgreens Clinical Trials colleagues to deliver insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests.
  • Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization.
  • Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/RWD to uncover new insights into patient populations and treatment outcomes.
  • Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytics and tools to address scientific questions from biopharmaceutical companies.
  • Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies.
  • Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and promptly interpretable outputs from RWE studies and analyses.
  • Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for internal and external utilization.
  • Conduct a reasonable level of due diligence on new real-world data suppliers/vendors and drive RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Experience in designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data.
  • Knowledge of common statistical testing methods, including generalized linear models, clustering and partitioning, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time-series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Experience handling large data from multiple data sources.
  • Experience handling protected patient health information.
  • Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI insight tools.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, or engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out as an ideal candidate, you should have:

  • A PhD or graduate degree in statistics/biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases.
  • Knowledge of clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10/ReadCode).
  • Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials.
  • Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and/or solutions.
  • Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, computational statistics.
  • A strong understanding of statistics and machine learning techniques, with the ability to continue self-learning of technical and non-technical skills.
