Reading Partners is a national literacy nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting elementary-aged students on their path toward reading proficiency. As an AmeriCorps Regional Program Coordinator or Program Coordinator in the Bay Area, you will be at the forefront of this mission, driving the coordination, operations, and relationship development of our tutoring programs in San Francisco and Oakland.

About the Role: AmeriCorps Regional Program Coordinator/Program Coordinator

As an AmeriCorps Regional Program Coordinator or Program Coordinator, you will serve full-time from January 2024 to June 2024, committing to a service term of 900+ hours. You will be the face of Reading Partners in elementary schools, leading the coordination and operations of our tutoring programs, and fostering positive relationships with students, families, tutors, and school staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Coordination: Lead the full-time coordination and operations of Reading Partners' tutoring programs at a school partner or multiple school partner sites.
  • Tutoring and Support: Provide ongoing tutoring to students and manage student and tutor data records, tracking student progress and providing direct technical support when needed.
  • Relationship Building: Forge and maintain positive relationships with students, families, tutors, and school staff to create a welcoming tutoring environment.
  • Student and Volunteer Engagement: Motivate students in their learning journeys, manage student behavior, and guide, coach, and provide feedback to volunteer tutors.
  • Collaboration: Work with other school-based AmeriCorps service members to share best practices and co-lead student support initiatives.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Hold US Citizenship, Permanent Resident Status, or be a US National.
  • Not have completed more than three (3) prior AmeriCorps or VISTA service terms.
  • Understand that this position is an AmeriCorps service commitment and be dedicated to completing a full term of service.
  • Pay strong attention to detail and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Be open to learning technology systems like Salesforce, Google Apps, and Zoom Conferencing.

Bonus points if you are an AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service alum/alumna; and/or have experience volunteering with community-based or education programs.
