As a Lab Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the program's mission by providing guidance, instruction, and supervision to students in the Diagnostic Sonography Imaging Lab.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the activities of the Diagnostic Sonography Imaging Lab under the guidance of the program coordinator and faculty, ensuring a productive and safe learning environment.
  • Perform duties as outlined in the Diagnostic Imaging Lab Manual to facilitate student retention and progression in the Diagnostic Sonography Programs.
  • Provide informal evaluations of student proficiencies and imaging work, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Develop and implement prescriptive tutoring and practice plans for students in need, promoting academic success and skill development.
  • Engage in professional development by arranging for a colleague to shadow your work once a year, staying current with best practices in diagnostic sonography.
  • Enforce diagnostic sonography lab policies and procedures, assigning professional skill violations as necessary to maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the diagnostic lab and equipment, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment.
  • Supervise the imaging of outside clients, referring subjects with notable ultrasound findings to lead instructors according to program policy.
  • Operate and instruct students on the use of ultrasound, instructional, and archiving equipment/systems, troubleshooting issues and communicating with the lab assistant and program coordinator as needed.
  • Monitor Schedulicity, the online appointment book, to ensure efficient student scheduling and minimize wait times.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by the program coordinator and faculty, supporting the overall success of the Diagnostic Sonography program.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • An Associate degree with 400 to 800 documented clinical hours specific to the concentration(s) you will be tutoring.
  • The appropriate credential(s) specific to the concentration(s) you will be tutoring.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's degree and one-year clinical experience specific to the concentration(s) you will be tutoring.
  • Active clinical practice while in the role, ensuring your knowledge and skills remain current and relevant.
