Job Overview: Part-Time Math Tutor for 4th Grader

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced part-time math tutor to work with a 9-year-old 4th grader who is struggling with math and needs guidance and support. As a math tutor, you will have the opportunity to employ creative teaching methods, develop personalized lesson plans, and inspire our student to overcome their challenges and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Get to know the student and develop a tailored approach to teaching math that meets their individual needs and learning style.
• Use innovative and engaging methods to teach math concepts, making the subject more accessible and enjoyable for the student.
• Help the student build confidence and overcome their fear of math by providing a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
• Develop and implement lesson plans using the Tutor Doctor Platform, and post-session reports for our office and families within 24 hours of each tutoring session.
• Effectively balance tutoring hours for each assigned student, ensuring that you meet their needs and provide consistent support.
• Service existing clients' concerns, questions, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
• Follow up with our office when a student's enrollment package is low on hours, ensuring seamless continuity of care.

About the Student:

Our student is a friendly and dedicated 9-year-old 4th grader who enjoys playing softball, art, and dancing. While they struggle with math and experience anxiety when faced with organizing their thoughts, writing, and comprehending reading, they are eager to learn and succeed. As their tutor, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful connection with them and help them develop a more positive relationship with math.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in the education field, with a preference for those with specialized experience in tutoring or teaching.
• A credentialed teaching background or graduate degree, which is considered a plus.
• Experience with basic database/data entry, as you will be required to use our online platform to plan lessons and post-session reports.
• The ability to prepare thoroughly for each tutoring session, developing lesson plans that cater to the student's needs.
• A personality that is well-suited to working with different types of students, with strong administration and organizational skills.
• Strong typing, PC, and recording skills, as well as reliable transportation with current car insurance.
• Access to the internet, a computer, and a smartphone, ensuring that you can stay connected and deliver high-quality tutoring services remotely.
