Job Summary

As a Medical Assistant I at Lancaster Hematology Oncology Care, you will be responsible for providing assistance with various healthcare services, obtaining specimens, conducting routine lab studies, and supporting administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments. You will work closely with our healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and contribute to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient care and procedures
  • Obtain and process specimens for lab testing
  • Conduct routine lab studies and report results
  • Coordinate patient flow and scheduling appointments
  • Manage phone messages and respond to patient inquiries
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date
  • OR Current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • Previous outpatient experience preferred

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Compassionate direct patient contact/engagement/outreach
  • Reliable transportation to travel among designated clinic locations
  • Flexibility to collaboratively work with various departments and perform varied tasks
