About the Role: Substitute Teacher

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity of education
• Manage classroom behavior, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students to ensure seamless integration
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
• Take advantage of our free, online training programs to enhance your teaching skills and stay updated on best practices

Essential Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
• Specialized training or certifications in areas such as Special Education, English as a Second Language, or STEM education
• Experience working with diverse student populations and age groups (Kinder, Early Years, Elementary, Middle, High School)
