About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and passionate Sylvan Teacher to join our team in Willow Park, TX. As a Sylvan Teacher, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to students using our proprietary program materials. Your goal will be to create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters academic growth, motivates students, and helps them develop a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare for Instructional Sessions: Gather and prepare materials, review student progress, and plan engaging lessons to meet individual needs.
- Deliver Personalized Instruction: Teach students according to Sylvan program materials, adapting your approach to meet the unique needs and abilities of each student.
- Evaluate Student Progress: Assess student performance on each assignment, providing constructive feedback and recording progress to inform future instruction.
- Motivate and Engage Students: Use praise, encouragement, and Sylvan tokens to motivate students and promote a love for learning.
- Communicate with Center Staff: Share student progress and needs with Center staff to ensure a collaborative approach to education.
- Maintain a Safe and Supportive Learning Environment: Ensure student safety and well-being, adhering to Sylvan's policies and procedures.
- Participate in Ongoing Training and Development: Complete certification training on Sylvan programs, attend staff meetings, and engage in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed as a Sylvan Teacher, you'll need:
- Four-Year Degree or Equivalent: A degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience, is required.
- Teaching Credentials: State or provincial teaching credentials are preferred, although not always required.
- Teaching Experience: A minimum of one to two years of teaching experience is preferred, although we're open to considering candidates with less experience who demonstrate a strong passion for teaching.
- Knowledge of Subject Area: For Language Arts and Study Skills Program Teachers, knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension is preferred. For Math Program Teachers, a strong background in math is required.
- Experience Working with Children: Experience working with children in a class or small group setting is essential.
