Job Summary

As a Personal Care Assistant at our Assisted Living facility, you will work closely with our residents, providing essential support with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, walking, and eating. You will work under the direction of our facility Nurse Manager, adhering to scheduled duties and ensuring that each resident receives personalized care according to their care plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides general assistance to residents, helping with bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming needs according to their care plan.
  • Delivers resident care in accordance with the resident care plan, as determined by the facility Nurse Manager and Physician Orders.
  • Assists residents with personal care after meals, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Supervises and assists residents with medication administration, following proper protocols and Physician Orders.
  • Obtains resident vital signs and weights on a monthly basis, or as ordered by a physician.
  • Records observations and pertinent information in the resident chart and communication book.
  • Prepares and assists with meals, snacks, and beverages, promoting healthy eating habits.
  • Completes variance reports according to policy, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Participates in effective communication with the care team, providing and receiving report in a timely manner.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; General Studies or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, transferring, and repositioning residents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
  • Medication Assistant-Certified (MA-C) certification from an accredited university or training program.
  • Previous experience in assisted living or long-term care, with a strong understanding of resident care needs.
