Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician - Remote Prior Authorization Specialist, you will be responsible for providing professional phone assistance for incoming calls from members and providers, processing prior authorization requests, and documenting approvals and denials accurately. You will navigate multiple computer applications with dual monitors for data entry and outbound calls as needed, delivering excellent customer service in both written and verbal communication. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional phone assistance for incoming calls from members and providers, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Process prior authorization requests, reviewing and verifying information, and documenting approvals and denials accurately.
  • Navigate multiple computer applications with dual monitors for data entry and outbound calls as needed, ensuring seamless communication and efficient workflow.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in both written and verbal communication, ensuring that members and providers receive the support they need.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all approvals and denials, with clinical questions and judgment calls referred to the pharmacist.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to resolve complex issues and ensure that members receive the care they need.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician in an administrative support role, preferably in healthcare or social services.
  • National or state pharmacy technician certification or licensure (license number and screenshot required).
  • Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in a high-volume call center, preferably in healthcare or social services.
  • Data entry proficiency with a minimum typing speed of 30 WPM.
  • Verifiable high school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with prior authorization processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with members, providers, and other stakeholders.
