Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our remote team. As a key member of our accounting department, you'll be responsible for preparing individual and business tax returns, maintaining tax records, reviewing and preparing financial statements, and updating accounting records and files. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual and business tax returns for federal, state, and local agencies as needed.
  • Maintain tax records, returns, schedules, and related reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Review and prepare financial statements for clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Update and maintain accounting records and files systematically, ensuring seamless access to financial information.
  • Enter accounting data into relevant databases, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Build and cultivate professional relationships with clients, addressing their financial inquiries and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closures along with tax reports, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Implement new accounting policies and ensure adherence to regulations, maintaining a high level of compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication proficiency, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to clients and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all financial tasks.
  • Capacity to manage substantial data volumes effectively, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, standards, laws, and regulations, with a strong understanding of financial reporting requirements.
  • Proactive with a strong focus on deadlines and independent work, demonstrating self-motivation and a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software, including QuickBooks, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems and tools.
  • Familiarity with various accounting practice management tools such as Fixed Assets, Practice CS, and AdvanceFlow, with a willingness to learn and expand your skillset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with a strong academic record and relevant coursework.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent public accounting experience, with a proven track record of success in tax preparation, financial statement review, and accounting operations.
  • EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is preferred, with a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and certification.
