This role provides an opportunity to lead and deliver engineering solutions for renewable energy projects, including electric power substations and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The Senior Physical Engineer will oversee project execution from design through delivery, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and adherence to client requirements. This position combines hands-on engineering, team leadership, and client interaction in a collaborative and supportive environment. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the development of technical guidelines and standards while maintaining a strong focus on safety, code compliance, and industry best practices.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Physical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Leading projects as a Phase Manager, managing scope, budget, task delegation, and client interactions while ensuring technical quality.
  • Performing QA/QC work by reviewing the designs of engineers, drafters, and designers for accuracy and compliance.
  • Mentoring and training junior engineers in physical design of electrical substations and BESS facilities.
  • Collaborating with technical directors and team leads on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Preparing detailed designs, calculations, models, and documentation including layouts, equipment specifications, grounding plans, and conduit plans.
  • Managing project deliverables and deadlines, ensuring alignment with internal QA/QC standards and client requirements.
  • Performing occasional field inspections and construction supervision as needed.

Requirements

Candidates should have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering or field experience.
  • FE or PE licensure preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to mentor team members, coordinate multidisciplinary work, and maintain high technical standards.
  • Current authorization to work full-time in the United States.
