About Our Team and the Role

Our team is dedicated to empowering Walmart associates and customers through technological innovation. We work closely with our U.S. stores and eCommerce business to provide seamless shopping experiences across online and offline channels. As a Senior Software Engineer - Production Support, you will be the technical lead for our Global Integrated Fulfillment application's production support function, ensuring the smooth operation of software solutions that enable picking and dispensing for our customers across the chain of stores.

This role is part of a team that works in rotational shifts to provide 24/7 support, collaborating closely with stakeholders in the U.S. and leveraging your technical expertise to resolve critical issues, drive technical solutions, and enhance the overall customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of contact for Level 2 and Level 3 troubleshooting and issue resolution, conducting root cause analysis and providing fix recommendations for long-term solutions.
  • Provide technical solutions and support to engineers who deliver round-the-clock support, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure seamless issue resolution.
  • Stand up the support team quickly, enabling the development team to focus on product development and innovation.
  • Audit complex critical systems delivery for business processes, demonstrating up-to-date expertise and applying this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and pinpoint issues for subject matter experts (SMEs) to provide code fixes, ensuring timely resolution of critical problems.
  • Model compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting Walmart's mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Provide and support the implementation of business solutions, reducing the impact of application and infrastructure failures on business delivery.
  • Develop tools, automation, monitoring, and alerting solutions across applications and infrastructure, supporting the Field Support area of responsibility.
  • Review and analyze incidents to identify root causes, correlate events, and document problems, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Design architectural solutions for support tools and automation, leveraging your technical expertise to drive innovation.
  • Build utility tools to automate routine tasks, enhancing the efficiency of operations and support teams.
  • Maintain and update documentation and runbooks, ensuring that teams have access to the information they need when they need it.
  • Determine and compile metrics for reporting, providing insights that inform business decisions.
  • Support training environment and production environment releases, including code pushes and configuration changes.
  • Handle network/system administration duties, including installing, testing, configuring, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing network services hardware and peripheral devices.

What You'll Bring

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong technical background with a minimum of 10 years of experience in IT. You should be detail-oriented, with superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and work independently under pressure.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related area, and 3 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
  • Alternatively, 5 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts, cloud technologies (preferably Microsoft Azure), containers (preferably Docker), and messaging infrastructure (Kafka).
  • Proficiency in MSSQL, Java, and Spring Boot, with a good grasp of networking fundamentals and core protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, load balancers, and distributed file systems.
  • Ability to program in at least one language, ideally Java or NodeJs, or UI skills like ReactJs or React Native.
  • Strong database skills, including key-value and relational databases, with experience in SQL, stored procedures, DB scripts, ETL, and Azure Cosmos DB.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related area, and 1 year of experience in software engineering or a related area.
  • Knowledge of creating inclusive digital experiences, with experience in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Logging and monitoring experience, with the ability to design, deploy, and run systems like Splunk, ELK, Dynatrace, New Relic, or other APM solutions.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
