Job Summary: Software Engineer I

We're seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer I to join our dynamic team at FedEx Dataworks. As a Software Engineer I, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for enhancements and new products. Under close supervision, you'll be responsible for routine concept design through the full development life cycle, preparing and conducting systems programming tests, and documenting software programs to ensure seamless understanding across the development cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug less complex software programs for enhancements and new products.
• Responsible for routine concept design through the full development life cycle, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
• Prepare and conduct systems programming tests, including interfacing and software testing, to guarantee high-quality outputs.
• Document software programs using flowcharts, visualizations, and diagrams to facilitate understanding across the development cycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Essential Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess a strong foundation in software engineering principles, as well as the skills and knowledge outlined below:

• Experience with source control tools like Git, with a strong understanding of version control best practices.
• Proficiency in development using Java (Backend Engineers) or React JS/Angular JS (Frontend Engineers).
• Ability to design and develop interfaces, such as API JSON or SOAP, and web services (Backend Engineers).
• Comfort with database concepts and experience writing SQL in relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Willingness to learn and explore new technologies, with a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving, particularly on Azure Cloud.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent formal training or work experience.
• One (1) year of experience in software engineering or a related field, with knowledge of basic principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in information technology or engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not mandatory, the following qualifications can give you a competitive edge:

• Advanced degree in a relevant field, which may offset the related experience requirements.
• Experience with cloud-based technologies, including Azure Cloud.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycles, including Agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail and ability to debug complex issues.
