As a critical member of our warehouse operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of trailers within our facility.
About the Role: Tractor Yard Switcher I
As a Tractor Yard Switcher I, you will be responsible for transporting full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking locations in the trailer yard. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will be an integral part of our warehouse operations team, contributing to the smooth flow of goods and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking spaces in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct inspections of trailers before moving them to identify any mechanical issues or potential safety hazards.
- Maintain the organization of the trailer yard to ensure efficient and safe transport of trailers.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the work area and warehouse.
- Perform other tasks, including pallet building, as determined and requested by management.
- May perform duties other than switching as assigned.
- Collaborate with warehouse management and fleet maintenance to address any issues or concerns.
- Operate a forklift and/or other PIT equipment within the warehouse, as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years of work experience in a related field.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to read, write, and use a radio.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere while walking and repetitively lifting 30 lbs.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
- Ability to coordinate and organize efficient and dependable warehouse processes.
- Ability to adapt to needs of role in different work areas throughout the workday and meet minimum expectations of those different work areas.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions from a computer screen.
- Attention to detail and ability to differentiate packages.
- Ability to work while exposed to the elements and in a noisy and non-climate controlled environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification, including Pallet Jack, Forklift, Double Forklift, and Switch Tractor.
