As a critical member of our warehouse operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of trailers within our facility.

About the Role: Tractor Yard Switcher I

As a Tractor Yard Switcher I, you will be responsible for transporting full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking locations in the trailer yard. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will be an integral part of our warehouse operations team, contributing to the smooth flow of goods and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking spaces in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct inspections of trailers before moving them to identify any mechanical issues or potential safety hazards.
  • Maintain the organization of the trailer yard to ensure efficient and safe transport of trailers.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the work area and warehouse.
  • Perform other tasks, including pallet building, as determined and requested by management.
  • May perform duties other than switching as assigned.
  • Collaborate with warehouse management and fleet maintenance to address any issues or concerns.
  • Operate a forklift and/or other PIT equipment within the warehouse, as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, and use a radio.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere while walking and repetitively lifting 30 lbs.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize efficient and dependable warehouse processes.
  • Ability to adapt to needs of role in different work areas throughout the workday and meet minimum expectations of those different work areas.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions from a computer screen.
  • Attention to detail and ability to differentiate packages.
  • Ability to work while exposed to the elements and in a noisy and non-climate controlled environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification, including Pallet Jack, Forklift, Double Forklift, and Switch Tractor.
