Job Summary

As an Assistant Men's Soccer Coach 2, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Head Coach with supervising, assessing, and training players. You will work within the basic framework and philosophy of the Head Coach and contribute to determining game strategy. This position offers a hybrid work model, combining remote work with time in our office. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse population of student-athletes and coaches in a cultural climate that celebrates diversity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport
  • Assess player skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the Head Coach informed of athletic performance
  • Maintain a record of team statistics and requirements for lettering
  • Work within the basic framework and philosophy of the Head Coach and assist with determining game strategy
  • Assist the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition
  • Attend all staff meetings and carry out scouting assignments as outlined by the Head Coach
  • Serve as a role model of good sportsmanship and appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
  • Arrive 15 minutes before practice, 60 minutes before contests and meetings to adequately prepare and remain long enough afterwards to help players with concerns or to become involved in staff discussions
  • Help in the planning and implementation of both in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs
  • Maintain collaborative interactions with players, coaches, staff members, parents, and other spectators
  • Remain at practices, games, and other contests where a student's attendance is requested, until the last student has left
  • Perform other duties that are consistent with the nature of the position and may be requested by the Head Coach

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the NCAA certification exam
  • Committed to compliance with the NCAA, East Coast Conference, and Mercy College policies and regulations
  • Ability to effectively work with a diverse population of student-athletes and coaches in a cultural climate that celebrates diversity
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience as an assistant coach or similar role in a collegiate or professional setting
  • Strong knowledge of soccer rules, regulations, and techniques
