As a Remote Health Care Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of our organization by managing and optimizing our accounts receivable processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Accounts Receivable (A/R) Department with various A/R functions, focusing on Specialty Infusion services.
- Handle Patient Financial Services (PFS) tasks, including patient and payer follow-up as necessary.
- Ensure the accurate and timely submission of claims to payers, and research and analyze unpaid claims.
- Assist in resolving denials, partial payments, and payment variances, leveraging your analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain and release all ship-verified claims within the established timeframe, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Resolve errors and make necessary claim edits as assigned in work queues, prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Communicate with payers and patients as needed for PFS processes, providing excellent customer service.
- Request relevant information from Revenue Cycle and clinical departments as required, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Make necessary adjustments to patient demographic, insurance, and account balance information, ensuring data accuracy.
- Complete A/R adjustments and request other adjustments where permitted and appropriate, adhering to company policies.
- Adhere to all regulatory compliance areas, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA and PCI compliance requirements.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A strong background in healthcare billing, preferably in specialty infusion services or a related field.
- Experience with accounts receivable processes and patient financial services.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently in a remote setting, with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in billing software and Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new systems.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in a related field is a plus.
- Residency in the Pittsburgh area is required for this remote opportunity.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous experience with claims processing, denial management, and payment posting.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and PCI compliance requirements.
- Certifications such as CPC or CPB are highly regarded.
- Familiarity with healthcare operations and revenue cycle management.
