About Us

As a Remote Instructor Assistant - Python Programming, you'll be an integral part of our Instruction team, working closely with our Director of Curriculum to design and deliver high-quality educational content to our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support instructors with lectures, live-coding demonstrations, coding challenges, and Q&A sessions with students twice a week in the classroom
  • Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture that embodies the Mission Bit core values of social justice, community, accountability, smart risks, and love
  • Provide one-on-one support to students working on their projects, fostering individual and meaningful relationships
  • Communicate student progress and success throughout the course to the Program Staff, ensuring collective support for students' learning
  • Ensure students develop sufficient understanding to build their final projects, showcased at our Demo Day
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our curriculum and programs, suggesting and implementing new ideas that enhance the quality and integrity of Mission Bit

Essential Qualifications

  • Technical experience in Python programming (college, bootcamp, or industry)
  • Ability to pass a technical skills assessment
  • Strong understanding of programming platforms
  • Punctual, organized, and prepared
  • Values aligned with Mission Bit's mission and passion for sharing CS knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort and confidence in public speaking situations
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Self-starting with the ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching or mentoring
  • Background in working with high school students or similar age groups
  • Familiarity with Mission Bit's core values and mission

What We Offer

As a Remote Instructor Assistant - Python Programming at Mission Bit, you'll enjoy a competitive hourly rate of $22.00. Schedule and Work Arrangement

  • Instructor Training: June 13, 2023 - June 16, 2023
  • Class Dates: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 am - 2:30 pm, June 20, 2023 - July 28, 2023
  • Weekly Meetings: 1 hour/week (virtual)
  • Monthly Meetings: 45 minutes/month (virtual)
  • Total Hours: 14.5 hours/week
  • Demo Day: TBD (in-person)
