Job Summary
As a Before and After School Instructor with Workwarp, you will play a vital role in guiding elementary-age participants through engaging and developmentally appropriate activities. You will work in a collaborative environment, utilizing your creativity, energy, and expertise to create a positive and enjoyable experience for each child. This is a part-time onsite position with varying hours, including end of school to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, and full-day programming on non-school days and early release days.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities within the curriculum, aligning with the Youth Development goals of Workwarp.
- Supervise a group of children to ensure their health, safety, and positive experience.
- Provide guidance to staff and volunteers overseeing the activities of groups of children.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, sharing day-to-day, confidential, and evaluative information.
- Follow Workwarp policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Assist in maintaining a developmentally appropriate site, including appearance, decor, and cleanliness.
- Prepare and serve snacks, and clean the snack area.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 16 years of age or older (18 or older preferred).
- 1-2 years of experience working with children in camps, childcare, tutoring, or nannying.
- Ability to model and demonstrate Workwarp values: caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
- Experience planning and implementing group activities.
- TB Test by Mantoux method.
- Completion of minimum STARS required training, CPR/First Aid Training.
- Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry MERIT.
Preferred Education and Experience
We prefer candidates with:
- Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English.
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
