Stark State College is seeking a highly motivated and engaging part-time Chemistry Tutor to join our Science Learning Center team in North Canton, OH. As a Chemistry Tutor, you will play a vital role in guiding and supporting students through organic and biochemistry courses, working closely with our faculty to ensure students' success. Key Responsibilities
- Engage students and provide systematic and consistent learning support services in a positive and efficient manner.
- Assist students with lecture or lab material in chemistry courses, study methods, and technology needed to complete course-related material.
- Greet students and visitors, and provide general information about the college and its services.
- Tutoring will take place primarily in-person at either the main campus or Akron location, with some online tutoring available based on hourly needs.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed.
- Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field with courses in general chemistry and organic chemistry.
- Microsoft Office Application skills and excellent communication skills.
- Comfort with technology usage and ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to relate to a diverse student population with ingenuity, creativity, and compassion.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in tutoring or teaching chemistry or related subjects.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and tools.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary package of $14.81 - $19.99 per hour, commensurate with experience. As a part-time employee, you will also receive:
