Job Summary
As Community Engagement Director, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and driving an ambitious community engagement strategy for the Los Angeles region. This includes overseeing volunteer recruitment and onboarding, managing a team of AmeriCorps members, and building sustainable partnerships with local organizations and stakeholders. Your expertise in community engagement, volunteer management, and partnership development will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals and expand our impact in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive community engagement strategy to meet and exceed volunteer recruitment targets, with a focus on recruiting up to 1,500 tutors annually.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure student enrollment and served targets are met, with a goal of achieving at least 85% of sessions delivered by volunteers.
- Lead and manage a team of AmeriCorps members, providing coaching, professional development, and guidance to ensure their success.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including local organizations, schools, and community groups, to drive partnerships and collaborations.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the volunteer experience, with a focus on achieving a high rate of volunteer retention (at least 30% year-over-year) and a 90% or higher volunteer satisfaction rating.
- Lead on all aspects of REDI (Race Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) learning and development for volunteers, ensuring a culturally responsive and inclusive environment.
- Manage and lead all Federal Work Study and Internship relationships for the region, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
- Develop and execute community engagement trainings and assist with onboarding and orientation of AmeriCorps members throughout the region.
- Support two annual marketing campaigns, in partnership with the development team, to drive volunteer recruitment and engagement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent prior experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in customer service, marketing, client management, community organizing, or a similar field.
- 1-2 years of direct management experience of volunteers, interns, and/or emerging professionals.
- Database management experience and high level of comfort with MS Office, Google Apps.
- Access to reliable transportation to travel within a defined geographic region on a daily basis.
- Flexibility and adaptability in work style and work schedule, including some night and weekend time.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. legally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the launch phase of projects or programs.
- AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service alum/alumna.
- Knowledge of the Los Angeles education landscape and the broader community.
