About the Role: Early Years Teacher
We are looking for a talented and dedicated Early Years Teacher to lead our educational programs for pre-school aged children or infants/toddlers in the Head Start/Early Head Start Program. As a Teacher I, you will be responsible for planning and implementing daily lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our young learners. Your goal will be to create a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans that provide educational and enrichment activities for pre-school age children or infants and toddlers.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes effective learning, with distinctive learning areas and engaging activities.
- Screen and assess children to determine developmental/educational needs and develop individual education plans.
- Monitor and ensure a safe environment for children during meal and snack periods, classroom activities, and playground time.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress, complete required forms and reports, and initiate referrals as needed.
- Communicate effectively with parents through conferences, written correspondence, and telephone calls.
- Conduct health checks and report any health concerns to the Health Coordinator.
- Ensure lessons and activities align with the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Standards.
- Perform quality staff-child interactions, using active supervision techniques and maintaining positive classroom behavior.
Requirements and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Two years of experience teaching Head Start, Early Head Start, pre-school, or kindergarten age children.
- Bilingual skills in English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area are preferred.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
As an Early Years Teacher with LSF, you will need to possess:
- Working knowledge of brain development and its impact on early learning.
- Understanding of child development from birth to age five, including typical and atypical children.
- Familiarity with culture and practices for early childhood education.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood.
- Understanding of behavior modification theories and practices relating to early childhood development.
- Effective verbal communication skills with infants, toddlers, and pre-school age children.
- Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
- Skill in resolving conflicts between pre-school age children.
- Ability to handle confidential information and follow established procedures.
