Job Summary

We're seeking a highly motivated and organized Middle School Assistant Cook to join our nutrition services team at New Ulm Middle School (Grades 5-8). As an Assistant Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to our students, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and providing exceptional customer service to our students and staff. Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals for students, following recipes and nutrition guidelines
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards
• Provide exceptional customer service to students and staff, responding to their needs and concerns
• Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service
• Assist with inventory management, receiving, and storing food and supplies
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge

Requirements and Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Previous experience in food service, cooking, or a related field preferred
• Ability to work effectively with children and provide excellent customer service
• Basic math skills, including calculating quantities and managing inventory
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a school setting or with children
• Familiarity with nutrition guidelines and meal planning principles
• Culinary skills, such as food preparation and cooking techniques
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods
