Job Summary

As a Teaching Assistant to Support Remote Learning and Hybrid Classroom Environments, you will be responsible for providing technological and instructional support to courses with both in-person and online learners. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all students, regardless of their location, have an engaging and equitable learning experience. You will work closely with faculty members, students, and other staff to design and deliver hybrid class sessions, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide support to online learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technological support to faculty members and students, including troubleshooting equipment and systems, and supporting online learners before, during, and after class meetings.
• Collaborate with faculty members to design and deliver hybrid class sessions, including course planning, attending live/synchronous class sessions, and supporting online learners.
• Conduct peer mentoring and hold office hours to help students work through tech challenges and keep a pulse on any trends or concerns that might arise.
• Maintain regular communications with course instructors and students, both in-person and online.
• Attend all synchronous/live class meetings on campus and ensure that you are not scheduled to attend another class in the same time slot as your assigned TA course.
• Provide support for academic technology systems, including Poly Studio, Cisco videoconferencing, and Zoom.
• Contact Media Services/ITS as needed to troubleshoot technical issues.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

• Familiarity with technology, including willingness to quickly learn Poly Studio, Cisco videoconferencing, Zoom, and other classroom technologies.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Must be in good academic standing and maintain satisfactory academic progress toward degree completion throughout the duration of the teaching assistantship.
• Must not be a registered student in the course for which the teaching assistant is providing support.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior classroom/teaching experience and/or experience facilitating online learning (i.e., meetings, professional development, classes).
• A quick learner with a positive attitude amid significant change.
