Experienced Graphic Novelist for Social Impact Project: Capturing the Voices of Global Food Justice Champions
Remote, USAFull-timePosted 2025-11-03
About Us
At Food First, we're passionate about advancing food justice and food sovereignty. Our mission is to end hunger and poverty by supporting and promoting local solutions that address systemic injustices in global food systems. Through grassroots mobilization, knowledge production, and the dissemination of solutions, we work to enable food sovereignty, one community at a time.
As a nonprofit organization dedicated to food justice, we're committed to creating a more equitable and sustainable food system. Our work is guided by a deep understanding of the complex relationships between food, culture, and power. We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy, nutritious food, and that food should be a source of joy and connection, not a source of stress and anxiety.
The Project
Our Write Shop project is a unique opportunity to capture the stories of individuals who are working tirelessly to advance food justice and food sovereignty. Through a series of interviews and storytelling, we aim to amplify the voices of global BIPOC leaders and highlight the challenges, successes, and strategies they've used to address food justice and food sovereignty challenges.
As the lead graphic artist for this project, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside a Food First staff member to review our 30 interview recordings and identify common themes, points of divergence, regionally-specific issues, and superseding themes about the food justice/food sovereignty movement. You'll also have the chance to create a narrative-driven digital graphic novel that brings these stories to life.
