Job Summary

The Manager, Data Analytics will be responsible for driving data-driven decision-making across the Disney Music Group. This will involve developing a deep understanding of client behaviors within music marketing, discovery, and utilization channels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive data-driven approaches to solving complex business problems through data creation, analysis, and statistical modeling.
  • Develop new features incorporating data across internal and external sources.
  • Build and apply segmentation, regression, and classification models to derive insights.
  • Contribute to key initiatives and new business opportunities by developing analytical models and frameworks to understand potential, performance drivers, and impact of environmental factors.
  • Support data-informed business strategies by applying data mining, quantitative analysis, and data visualization to surface and raise key issues.
  • Extract and develop data for analysis, securing, organizing, scrubbing, and controlling complex, large-scale data from various dynamic sources.
  • Apply supervised or unsupervised learning techniques to derive, validate, and measure conclusions from data.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and understand performance, driving meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Contribute to business needs through continuous reporting and analysis to inform business, product, marketing, and sales decisions.
  • Lead content performance and audience analysis for product releases, developing and tracking key metrics to measure success.
  • Perform statistical analysis, such as KPI deep dives, behavioral segmentation, and customer journey analysis.
  • Develop analytical pipelines for automated, flexible, repeatable, and integrated analysis using current big data models.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to execute on data projects.
  • Contribute to solution discovery, design, build, and QA process, working on data models, database construction, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and validation boundaries.
  • Lead and coach a team member, setting boundaries to maximize impact in the organization.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Capabilities:

  • 3 years of data analysis experience.
  • 3 years of business intelligence experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, including Statistics, Math, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related fields.
  • Experience developing statistical models and analyses in an industry setting for business use cases.
  • Applied knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
  • Skill in controlling large, transactional datasets and interpreting data trends from multiple disparate data sources.
  • Strong hands-on experience creating modern analytical solutions using scripting tools (Python/R).
  • Proficiency in advanced SQL, large-scale data, and mathematical computing languages (PySpark).
  • Experience with data mining in distributed systems (Spark/Databricks).
  • Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools (Tableau/ Looker).
  • Experience developing analytical software that scales analysis.
  • Experience working with media performance data.
  • Experience working with data in media industries.
  • Strong experience documenting data requirements, rules, and assumptions.
  • Experience communicating analytical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Passion for building clear, concise, and meaningful metrics.
  • Proven track record of using data to deliver business value and presenting data-driven insights to business audiences.
  • Experience influencing and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail without losing sight of broader objectives.
  • History of working independently, demonstrating creativity, and delivering results.
  • Distinct fascination with music and the music industry.
  • Strong experience with music streaming services (Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music, YouTube), social media platforms (TikTok, FB/Instagram), and emerging technologies (digital assistants/voice).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience driving data-driven projects across a wide cross-functional landscape.
  • Experience assembling, managing, and motivating teams in essential support functions.
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field, including Statistics, Math, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related fields.
