Key Responsibilities

As a Customer Service Representative, your primary duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent customer service to policyholders and interested third parties via phone, email, and correspondence, responding to their inquiries, and resolving their concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Explaining policy coverage, claim status, and assisting with claim payments or other policy information to policyholders and interested third parties.
  • Processing policyholder requests from correspondence, phone calls, and emails, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Reviewing and maintaining new and revised procedures regarding policy information to ensure that you are up-to-date on the latest policies and procedures.
  • Managing your time effectively, meeting department standards for the number of calls, average handle time, and time management.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Utilizing your excellent communication, written and oral, and organization skills to effectively interact with policyholders, providers, and interested third parties.
  • Demonstrating strong decision-making skills, analyzing situations, and making logical conclusions.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment, handling high-stress situations calmly and with tact and professionalism.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements and qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • At least one year of office experience preferred; telecommunications experience a plus.
  • Life and Health insurance background and knowledge of insurance operations desired.
  • Excellent customer service background and good phone skills.
  • Excellent communication, both written and oral, and organization skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent alpha and number recognition skills.
  • Demonstrated mathematical abilities.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Able to handle high-stress situations calmly and with tact and professionalism.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to analyze situations and make logical conclusions.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
  • Must be able to type at least 30WPM.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual employees (Eng/Span) are eligible for a pay differential.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance of your assigned shift.
  • Ability to work Full-Time and/or Part-Time based on the specific position for which you're applying.

Physical Requirements

As a Customer Service Representative, you will be required to:

  • Work in a remote environment with heavy phone and PC usage.
  • Sit for extended periods of time and frequently reach above shoulder level.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work 40-hour workweek.
