Key Responsibilities: Leading Engaging Group Fitness Classes
- Teach high-quality group fitness classes, including Kickboxing, Weight Lifting, High Intensity Intervals, Cycling, Dance, Yoga, and Meditation, among others, to diverse groups of participants.
- Create a fun, safe, and educational environment that promotes member wellness and adheres to YMCA policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate class attendance records and provide excellent customer service to members.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest fitness industry trends and best practices to ensure that classes are effective and engaging.
- Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Essential Qualifications: Certification, Experience, and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Current certification in CPR/AED and a national certification in group fitness instruction (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification.
- Certification in areas of expertise, such as Cardio, Strength, Yoga, Cycle, Mat Pilates, Dance, ForeverWell, or Silver Sneakers.
- Demonstrated customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse fitness abilities and ages.
- Preferred 1 year of experience teaching group fitness classes.

Work Environment: A Dynamic and Inclusive Studio Setting
As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will work in a dynamic studio environment that is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. You will be required to:
- Conduct classes and activities relating to fitness.
- Perform physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs at a time.
- Work in an environment with moderate to loud music volume.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
