We're now seeking an experienced and certified Low Impact Aerobics Exercise Instructor to join our team as a Senior Aerobics Group Exercise Instructor, leading senior-focused fitness classes that promote health, wellness, and connection among our members.

About the Role

As a Senior Aerobics Group Exercise Instructor at Shalom Austin, you'll play a vital role in designing, choreographing, and leading engaging and safe low-impact aerobics classes for our senior members (ages 60+). This part-time, non-exempt position requires a strong background in group exercise instruction, a passion for senior fitness, and excellent communication skills. You'll work in a dynamic environment that values flexibility, creativity, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, choreograph, and lead Senior Aerobics group exercise classes, both in-person and virtually (live and pre-recorded), according to current industry standards for safety and effectiveness.
  • Teach, demonstrate, promote, and communicate proper class-specific exercise technique and form to achieve a safe and effective workout.
  • Provide safe, appropriate, and effective exercise modifications when needed or requested by participants, with an emphasis on injury prevention.
  • Maintain a welcoming, positive, encouraging, inclusive, and non-intimidating classroom atmosphere.
  • Support the supervision of the safety and welfare of members throughout the fitness center.
  • Manage your own schedule, including sending calendar invites, cancellations, and notifications of changes.
  • Maintain current accredited and/or licensed certifications for the class formats being instructed.
  • Adhere to our Mission, Core Values, and all HR policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proof of current certification in CPR and AED (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • A currently valid professional certification or degree from 2 or more of the following categories:
    • A Group Exercise Instructor certification from an NCCA-accredited organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NCCPT, NETA).
    • A college degree in a related field (e.g., Kinesiology, Physical Education, Dance, or comparable).
    • A current format-specific group exercise instruction certification and/or license (e.g., Yoga Alliance, Pilates, Zumba, Barre, Kickboxing).
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Ability to pass all required criminal history background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Formal education, specialized certifications, and trainings in senior fitness, group exercise instruction, or a related field.
  • Experience working with senior populations and understanding their unique needs and preferences.

  • Knowledge of current industry standards for safety and effectiveness in group exercise instruction.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $25.00 - $35.00, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
