About the Role: Middle School Wrestling Coach

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Wrestling Coach to join our team at Asheville Middle School. As a Middle School Wrestling Coach, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of our student athletes, teaching them the fundamentals of wrestling, and instilling valuable life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This is a remote opportunity with immediate openings available, offering a competitive salary.

Key Responsibilities

• Teaching and Coaching: Create, plan, and teach the fundamentals of wrestling to a diverse student population, promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
• Communication and Interaction: Effectively and consistently communicate with students, parents, staff, and the community, demonstrating good sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
• Student Development: Provide an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children, fostering a love for the sport and promoting overall well-being.
• Team Management: Develop and condition student athletes in and out of season per ACS regulations, building and maintaining an atmosphere of fun and mutual respect.
• Collaboration and Administration: Work collaboratively with administration, teaching staff, and other coaches to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
• Record Keeping and Safety: Maintain accurate records, follow required procedures and practices, and ensure the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Additional Responsibilities: Attend periodic athletic department meetings, engage in academic mentoring, and supervise student athletes before and after practices and events.

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

• High School or Higher Level Playing/Coaching Experience: A background in wrestling as a player or coach at the high school level or higher.
• Excellent Communication and Organization Skills: The ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Willingness to Join Affiliated Coaching Association: A commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to coaching association guidelines.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Previous Experience in Middle School Coaching: A background in coaching at the middle school level, with knowledge of adolescent development and educational settings.
• Certifications or Training: Relevant certifications, such as first aid or coaching certifications, and training in areas like sports management or child development.
