Job Summary
This high-influence position supports Ryder's Continuous Improvement culture across the business by applying data-driven methods to drive change and deliver higher levels of performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. As a Lead Engineer, you'll identify, lead, and drive change within the operation through data analytics, engineering methodologies, and lean tools to enable root cause identification and elimination.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Process Improvement: Collect data, perform statistical analysis, map and document processes, and independently identify process gaps. Recommend and implement process improvements to drive value for customers.
- CI Project Management: Manage and complete high-impact CI projects across the operation, assessing initiatives and providing input and recommendations on future activities.
- Engineering and Automation: Apply engineering methodologies and tools, such as product slotting, labor standards, layouts, and optimization of flow, to improve distribution and transportation operations.
- Leadership and Coaching: Supervise continuous improvement engineering and quality professionals, participate in employment decisions, and manage performance.
- Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen Events: Facilitate and execute Value Stream Maps and Kaizen Events, coaching process owners on lean methods to achieve operational excellence.
- Reporting and Strategy: Provide regular reports on data and actions to measure progress against site objectives, making inventory and supply chain strategy recommendations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Quality Management Systems: Design, implement, monitor, and maintain the QMS based on established company and industry standards.
- Corrective Action System: Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Perform all functions related to Quality Assurance for start-ups or expansions.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain.
- Experience: Seven (7) years or more of related work experience in industrial engineering, operations, or a related field.
- Skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Data visualization (Power BI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX).
- Proficiency in developing and managing Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, and Management Accountability Systems.
- Understanding and experience in core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, metrics).
Preferred Qualifications
- Warehouse Design Tools: CAD (e.g., AutoCAD), slotting (e.g., Slot3D), Predetermined Motion and Time Systems and methods (e.g., MOST).
- Warehouse Management Systems: Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (e.g., Manhattan Scale) and Labor Management Systems.
- Material Handling Solutions: Knowledge of material handling solutions and automation types, such as powered industrial truck (PIT) applications, racking and storage solution designs, packaging equipment, conveyor and sortation equipment, and other automation solutions (e.g., AS/RS).
- Transportation Design Tools: Experience with transportation design tools, such as JDA, Appian, Network Design Tools, and Mapping Software (e.g., Tableau).
