Job Overview

In our Cigna Coverage Review Department call center, you will be working on prior authorizations, which is a process used to determine if a prescribed procedure, service, or medication is covered by a member's current health plan. As a Call Center Customer Service Representative, you will be the face of our company, and your interactions with customers will make all the difference in their experience with us. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive inbound calls from doctor's offices or pharmacies who are calling to request coverage for a prescribed medication or service
  • Conduct the initial screening of requests based on guidance given by online prior authorization tools
  • Approve requests that meet the approval specifications, and refer requests that do not meet the specifications to a pharmacist for clinical review
  • Manage an average of 10-30 calls daily, with the potential for increased volume during busy seasons
  • Utilize five systems daily to complete your work, with comprehensive training provided to ensure your success
  • Attend 100% of training sessions and the first 90 days of employment to ensure a smooth transition into your role
  • Enjoy the flexibility of working from home, with the ability to virtually connect with coworkers and customers

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-5 years of call center and customer service experience, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • A dedicated workspace with no distractions, and a reliable computer with a working knowledge of Windows operating system
  • Competent computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organization skills, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and helpful in difficult situations
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work any schedule between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm Eastern, Monday through Friday, with permanent shifts provided before the end of training
  • Flexibility to support extended hours and overtime as determined by business needs to meet customer expectations

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Previous experience working in a call center or customer service environment, preferably in the healthcare industry
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and prior authorization processes
  • Experience working with multiple systems and technology platforms
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers who speak languages other than English
