As a fully remote Independence Manager, you'll be part of our National Office of Risk Management (NORM) team, playing a critical role in managing risk and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

About the Role: Independence Manager - Remote

The Independence Manager is a key member of the National Office of Independence team, responsible for managing compliance with independence policies, providing guidance on independence matters, and supporting the development of policies and procedures. This fully remote role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, while contributing to the success of our clients and the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with "triaging" incoming requests for guidance on independence matters from engagement personnel, developing preliminary guidance, and managing firm acquisition due diligence processes.
  • Support the development and presentation of independence-related training, guidance, and tools, ensuring that they are clear, concise, and effective.
  • Collaborate with senior personnel to manage independence consultation matters, personal independence considerations, and processes supporting these activities.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in independence matters, staying up-to-date with regulatory changes, industry developments, and firm policies.
  • Assist with other National Office of Risk Management related projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and integrity.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices.
  • 5-6+ years of experience in public accounting, preferably with substantive exposure to independence considerations in professional practice.
  • Ability to read and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including SharePoint, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend process improvements, with a proactive approach to driving business improvement.
  • Strong managerial and prioritization skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active CPA license, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and expertise.
  • Knowledge of SEC, PCAOB, and AICPA Independence rules, with the ability to recognize the potential impact of changes on firm policies, processes, and personnel.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional and internal contacts, resources, and networks, with a strong understanding of the importance of building relationships.

$99,500 - $199,000
