Job Overview and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team, working remotely with a competitive salary of $24/hour. As a member of our IT Infrastructure Group, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of our systems and applications. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing conventional and cloud-based infrastructure solutions based on plans from system architects
  • Providing expert knowledge of concepts related to server load balancing, WAS clustering, and other application scaling concepts
  • Investigating and resolving middleware issues across development, testing, and production environments
  • Proactively monitoring local and remote data center operations and equipment, including UPSs, air conditioning, power, office security systems, and all data center processes and procedures
  • Supporting a culture of sharing and collaboration among the team, staying up-to-date with systems technology best practices, and suggesting improvements or changes
  • Maintaining and updating Windows Active Directory, including DNS and Group Policies
  • Providing guidance to lower-level professionals and assisting when necessary
  • Traveling as required, with a rotational schedule for on-call off-hours support

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • At least 2 years of experience as an organization or infrastructure engineer or administrator
  • Advanced ability to think critically and design solutions for current and future business conditions, including future technology and business design changes
  • In-depth knowledge of IT business operations, systems requirements, and processes
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Server Administration - Linux (RHEL/CentOS 7/8) and Windows (2012/2016)
    • Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, Python, Slam, and PowerShell
    • Cloud Technologies - Design, development, and delivery of cloud-native applications (Microsoft Azure, AWS, IBM Cloud)
    • DevOps - CI/CD, GitHub, Artifactory, or Jenkins
    • Containerization - Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry
    • Server and Application Monitoring - Dynatrace, LogDNA, and SysDig
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and implement solutions and/or workarounds
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with a strong desire to learn and expand depth of knowledge
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and leverage best practices
  • Demonstrated drive, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing needs and workplaces
  • Proficiency in Agile project management methodology, specifically within the infrastructure area

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 2+ years of experience as an organization or infrastructure engineer or administrator
