Job Summary

We're seeking an Associate Director of Experience Design to lead our Verizon Value Design Systems team. As a seasoned design leader, you'll bring technical design expertise, multidisciplinary leadership, and strategic vision to build a multi-brand design system from the ground up. You'll set new standards in our category, making our customers' interactions with our brands truly reliable, simple, and exceptional.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design System Strategy and Vision: Set design system strategy and vision across our portfolio of brands and channels, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
  • Team Leadership: Provide hands-on leadership to a team of designers managing our core component library and front-end framework, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Component Crafting: Craft components supporting diverse experience patterns and brand customization, promoting accessibility, versatility, and performance.
  • Process Governance: Create, socialize, and govern processes for requesting, evaluating, building, and releasing new components, ensuring efficient and effective design system management.
  • Adoption and Evangelism: Drive adoption of the design system, enabling designers and developers to build experiences in a performant, scalable, flexible unified architecture, and evangelize the design system to brand experience teams.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Define and implement metrics and reporting systems to track and analyze the effectiveness of the design system, informing data-driven design decisions.
  • Career Growth and Development: Make hiring, performance, and promotion decisions, and manage direct reports' career growth, providing coaching, mentoring, and opportunities for professional development.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Relevant Experience: Six or more years of relevant work experience in design systems, digital design, and user-centric design.
  • Design Systems Experience: Experience in design systems and governance, with a proven track record of creating and managing design systems.
  • Digital Design Expertise: Experience in digital design and user-centric design, with a strong understanding of design principles and human-centered design methodologies.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel, up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Design: A degree in design or a related field of study.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership of design teams and driving results in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Portfolio Examples: Portfolio examples of design systems created, showcasing expertise in design systems and governance.
  • Design Tools: Expertise in design tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Agile Methodology: Experience with agile methodology and tools, such as GitHub/Bitbucket and Smart Sheets/Google Suite.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary, with a range of $136,000 to $253,000 annually, depending on location and experience. Our award-winning total rewards package includes:
