About the Role: Field Technician VI

As a Field Technician VI, you'll play a critical role in supporting our largest customers, including governments, school districts, universities, large corporations, and other carriers. Your expertise will enable you to build strong relationships with these customers, ensuring seamless installation and service processes. You'll work in a fast-paced environment, primarily indoors within multi-tenant buildings at various locations, and be part of a mandatory on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair complex cabling systems, including Cat5/Cat6 cabling in commercial environments.
  • Program and install routers, Internet gateway services, Layer2/3 Ethernet switches, and wireless access points.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to WAN/LAN and wireless access point (WAP) equipment.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments, including Enterprise Engineering, to provide remote hands-on support at customer premises.
  • Utilize your knowledge of TCP/IP stack, network designs, architectures, and topologies to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Operate various hand tools, such as electric drills, hammers, wrenches, and screwdrivers, and use weight-bearing equipment like gaffs, safety harnesses, and ladders.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, customers, and suppliers through clear, straightforward, and professional interactions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of IP networking experience.
  • 1+ year of experience as a Field Technician IV/V.
  • Experience with complex, structured cabling jobs, including interior/exterior installation of Cat5/Cat6 cabling.
  • Completion of Charter University Training according to the Broadband Technician Career Path Training Matrix or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP stack, network designs, architectures, and topologies.
  • Troubleshooting, engineering, and SONET/Ethernet transport skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management experience.
