Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and driven English Language Development Curriculum Specialist to join our team of experts. As a Curriculum Specialist, you will have the opportunity to consult with high school charter school leaders and coach teachers across the U.S. as they build and expand their English language development programs. Key Responsibilities
As an English Language Development Curriculum Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in adapting current and new ELD curriculum for independent study, online, and hybrid learning instructional formats, ensuring publications on Skyrocket websites, course description indices, and course contracts are updated and current for each client.
- Assisting in editing, reviewing, and formatting ELD-related documents like ELD Master Plans, credit policies, academic learning plans, and progress monitoring tools.
- Assisting in research of new material for the purpose of providing the most effective program options for clients.
- Communicating and consulting with the ELD manager and clients to establish project timelines, milestones, and progress toward completion.
- Assisting in planning and implementing ELD staff development/training for staff of new courses, data interpretation, best practices, etc...
- Coordinating with the assessment team to align course materials and data interpretation with the clients' language proficiency assessments.
- Assisting in developing and facilitating professional development for enhancing designated and integrated ELD instruction.
- Participating as part of the company team and assisting with other functions and duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- A valid secondary English language Arts or English Language Development teaching credential.
- A Master's degree in a related content area, such as TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or education with a TESL emphasis.
- Professional experience in teaching ESL/ELD for 3-5 years, with experience in state-wide assessments for ELD programs and developing and adapting curriculum for ELD programs.
- Training and/or experience in the area of computer-assisted learning, with the ability to use technology effectively to create and modify websites, presentations, and other media.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate projects toward completion in a timely manner using both in-person and remote communication methods.
- Strong digital organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and take initiative in a multi-task environment.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:
- Fluency in more than one language.
- Experience leading an ELD academic or educational program.
- Advanced degree in a related field, such as a Ph.D. in TESL, TESOL, or applied linguistics.
- Experience with educational technology and online learning platforms.
- Certification in a related area, such as TESL, TESOL, or bilingual education.
