Job Summary

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Bios Corporation, you'll work hands-on as a Caregiver/Companion with individuals with intellectual disabilities, teaching skills and providing supports to enable them to live independently in their homes and participate in their communities. You'll assist individuals with daily living activities, encourage attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion, and advocate for their needs, self-expression, and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, assisting with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation
  • Teach skills and provide supports to enable individuals to live independently in their homes and participate in their communities
  • Encourage attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion, socialization, and self-advocacy
  • Assist individuals with accessing community resources, such as education, employment, and recreational activities
  • Advocate for individuals' needs, self-expression, and goals, ensuring their voices are heard and respected
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of individual progress and support services provided
  • Collaborate with other support staff, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive care and support

Requirements and Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Able to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds to provide services
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
  • Clear criminal history record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in human services, such as a Personal Care Aide (PCA) or In-home Caregiver
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Certifications in CPR/First Aid, MAT, and CDS (bonus available for course completion)
