Job Overview and Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst and Software Engineer to join our team, focusing on data entry, analysis, and cloud application development. As a key member of our Information Engineering and Analysis group, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing data analysis solutions, making data analysis easier and more effective for American Airlines. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with source data application teams and product owners to design, implement, and support analysis solutions that provide insights to make better decisions
- Implementing data migration and data engineering solutions using Azure products and services, such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, and Azure Databricks
- Performing various aspects associated with the development lifecycle, including design, cloud engineering, ingestion, deployment, data modeling, testing, CICD pipelines, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Providing technical leadership and collaborating within a team environment, as well as working independently
- Being part of a DevOps team that fully owns and supports their product
- Implementing batch and streaming data pipelines using cloud technologies
- Driving the development of coding standards, best practices, and security and compliance rules
- Mentoring others on technical and domain skills to create multi-functional teams
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- At least 3 years of programming solution development experience using agile, DevOps, working in a product model that includes designing, developing, and deploying large-scale applications or data engineering solutions
- At least 3 years of data analysis experience using SQL
- At least 2 years of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure), including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI
- A combination of development, administration, and support experience in several of the following tools/platforms:
- Scripting: Python, Perl, Unix, SQL
- Data Platforms: Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, Snowflake
- Azure Data Explorer
- Networking skills are a plus
- Azure Cloud Technologies: Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Azure Functions
- CI/CD: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform
- BI Analytics Tool Stack – Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, and Grafana
- Data Warehousing: DataStage, Informatica
- Data Governance and Security: Informatica Axon and EDC, BigID
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not required, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:
- 5+ years of programming solution development experience using agile, DevOps, product model that includes designing, developing, and deploying large-scale applications or data engineering solutions
- 5+ years of data analysis experience using SQL
- 3+ years of full-stack development experience, preferably in Azure
- 3+ years of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure), including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, ADX, ASA, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI
- Airline industry experience
- Skills with the Azure Technology stack for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, curation, and making usage layers
- Skills in providing practical guidance within the Azure Native cloud services
- Azure Development Track Certification (preferred)
- Python Certification (preferred)

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $80,000 per year, as well as a range of benefits, including:
