Job Description

As a Packaging Strategy Lead - Data, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of packaging strategies for Target's owned brands and products. Your primary objective will be to drive sales, enhance brand love, and promote sustainability through data-driven insights and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain fundamental data requirements, taxonomy structures, and specifications to support packaging design optimization and sustainability efforts across owned brands.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including procurement, design, store operations, marketing, supply chain, properties, and compliance program owners to establish relevant data requirements and adaptable guidelines.
  • Design, implement, and manage change cycles to ensure accurate packaging document management portfolios across multiple systems and partner teams.
  • Develop, manage, and execute innovative training and communication plans for internal and external audiences to drive comprehensive understanding of standards, specifications, and data accuracy best practices.
  • Assess data requirements, standards, and specifications to optimize safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that align with industry standards, enhance engineering practices, and maintain a leader position in the industry.
  • Provide support and guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure proper interpretation and implementation of packaging data requirements, standards, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with internal regulatory and compliance authorities to identify impacts on current data requirements and standards, mitigate risks, and recognize opportunities for compliance.
  • Work with cross-functional global partners to drive effective communication and roadshows around stated objective advancement, compliance, and data accuracy best practice requirements and expectations.
  • Analyze data to identify trends or issues, measure the effectiveness of training and communications, and provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Investigate industry trends and assess Target's corresponding data and standards practices, sharing insights and recommendations with relevant stakeholders for change and compliance.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to others, driving effectiveness and efficiency in team results.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience developing and managing documentation and standards projects, preferably including packaging design and development.
  • Ability to influence without authority, manage projects, work with teams, resolve conflicts, build consensus, and establish rapport and collaborate effectively, both internally and externally, across all levels of an organization.
  • Experience with documentation best practices, technical writing, and reporting.
  • Skilled at developing and advising on content, structure, and delivery of effective training platforms, roadshows, and communications.
  • Experience leading teams or projects, driving collaboration, empowerment, and cooperation.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, creative thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Related experience with packaging or consumer products manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability and resilience; open to working in uncertain and rapidly changing environments.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Visio applications.
