We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Entry Specialist to join our team at ESPN's Details and Data Gathering department. As a Details Investigator I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of sports information on ESPN's digital and television platforms. You will work with automated data feeds and utilize manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of precise, timely, and engaging sports information.Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee sports information disseminated by Details and Data is accurate, timely, and engaging.
- Work in individual settings and in groups to convey accurate detailed breakdown, clock-and-score, and other measurements and information in real-time that power a multitude of ESPN products and productions.
- Create and maintain a working knowledge of Details and Data's role in fueling ESPN digital products and television productions.
- Check the results of one's own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of scrutiny.
- Contribute to production, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, and assist newsroom leaders who are overseeing full-time and part-time staff.
- Anticipate possible issues, both daily and long-term, and propose potential solutions. Communicate rapidly and clearly with colleagues on these issues.
- Play a proactive role in working with colleagues to create or refine production processes.
- Be an active participant in team and office meetings.
- Seek and respond to feedback on personal performance.
- Remain informed about current office policies and procedures.
Required Capabilities
- Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of the games.
- Full-time availability, which will include evenings (only), weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to rapidly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports information that drives ESPN's digital and television products.
- Capacity to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances.
- Capacity to communicate confidently – verbally and in writing – to production managers and colleagues about production issues and opportunities, often through the din of a busy newsroom.
Preferred Capabilities
- 1+ years' experience working in sports or potentially analytics, ideally in media.
- Knowledge of how sports information is used in media and for research purposes.
- Working knowledge of ESPN products and productions.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
- Experience leading or training a team.
- Ability to speak and write Spanish.
- Experience incorporating social media in a business or news environment.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
