As a General Accounting Process Owner, you will be responsible for managing and executing accounting processes and tasks to support our business operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute accounting processes and tasks to support GPS and integrate with Google LLC across various process areas, including both Order to Cash and Record to Report.
- Ensure new processes are designed to comply with current Federal compliance requirements for government contracts.
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities and prepare standalone reports for GPS financial statements, including accounting for revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, using Deltek Costpoint and SAP solutions.
- Ensure compliance, controls, and accurate accounting and reporting of GPS, primarily focused on the business processes from opportunity to reporting.
- Drive cross-functional projects, working closely with Cloud and Alphabet controllership, Engineering, FP&A, Legal, and Outreach teams, including defining business requirements and executing testing for related process and system implementations and changes.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A four-year college education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in accounting in a corporate or public accounting environment supporting similar sized organizations.
- Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Prophet, etc.).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to resolve issues, own the outcome, and strive for process and performance improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- CPA (active or inactive).
- Experience working with government contractors and using Deltek Costpoint.
- Functional accounting or general accounting experience, including input into revenue recognition decisions, cost recognition, management of indirect costs, owning a monthly close process.
- Knowledge of FAR 12 compliance requirements, and experience with FAR 15 contracting by negotiation.
- Ability to support transformational projects and system implementations/enhancements, including defining business requirements, performing user acceptance testing, controls, etc.
