Experienced Head Start Health Specialist for Region III - Remote Opportunity with ICF

ICF, a global advisory and technology services provider, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health Specialist to support the Office of Head Start Region III Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) contract. As a remote professional, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality health services to Head Start programs across Region III, comprising District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

About the Role

The Head Start Health Specialist will serve as a liaison between the Regional and Central Office of Head Start (OHS) and the National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety, as well as other relevant agencies. This position requires a strong understanding of comprehensive health services, including mental health, environmental health, and safety, and the ability to provide subject matter expertise to Regional Office and TTA staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between OHS, National Center, and other agencies to facilitate collaboration and coordination.
  • Provide expert guidance on comprehensive health services, including mental health and wellness, environmental health, and safety.
  • Develop and implement strategies to connect with recipient health managers and coordinators in Region III.
  • Aggregate, analyze, and disseminate regional and recipient health data to identify emerging trends and inform program decisions.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and training on topics related to early childhood health, mental health, and safety.
  • Provide direct service to individual recipients as directed by the Regional Office.
  • Participate in state collaboration and coordination efforts to promote comprehensive health services.
  • Facilitate communities of practice and networking opportunities to support program staff and stakeholders.
  • Support emerging OHS initiatives and priorities to drive program excellence.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in public health, health education, maternal and child health, health administration, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in health services related to early childhood programs, such as Head Start/Early Head Start, maternal and child health, school health, or community health programs.
  • 1+ year of experience supporting Trauma-Informed Practices.
  • 1+ year of experience analyzing health-related data and helping programs make data-driven decisions.
  • 1+ year of experience providing training and technical assistance related to health services for children birth to five.
  • 1+ year of experience facilitating group discussions and presenting to a range of audiences.
  • 1+ year of experience working with programs serving children from diverse backgrounds.
  • 1+ year of experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, to various audiences.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out as a candidate, you should have:

  • Knowledge of Head Start performance standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience working within a Head Start Program.
