Key Responsibilities
As a Product Manager at Home Depot, you will be responsible for driving business value through the development of innovative products. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Strategy and Planning (40%):
- Gaining a deep understanding of customer and stakeholder needs, both existing and potential, and using that knowledge to inform product development.
- Translating business objectives and end-user needs into product strategy and conveying direction and product requirements to the development team, other matrixed teams, and third-party partners.
- Identifying goals, metrics, and analysis to determine product value and continually making recommendations and refinements to the product backlog based on learnings.
- Conducting end-user research to help identify customer stories and assist in determining Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
- Collaborating with Finance to understand financial requirements and aid in the creation of field-tested strategies for new opportunities.
- Delivery and Execution (30%):
- Ensuring that products are aligned with company, stakeholder, and end-user needs to drive sales, improve productivity, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Reporting, reviewing, and ensuring that all quality and change control standards are met.
- Developing, testing, and refining hypotheses and assumptions through customer research and testing.
- Making product decisions that drive value consistently.
- Participating in standups, sprint planning meetings, product demos, and reviews.
- People and Collaboration (30%):
- Fostering collaboration with colleagues (Engineering, Customer Experience Planners, etc.) to drive value and proactively identify and resolve impediments.
- Acting as a champion of current software development practices.
- Advocating for the end-user and stakeholder by relating to and understanding customer needs and becoming the domain expert.
- Regularly working with the product team to continually review progress, share learnings, and determine next steps.
- Managing cross-functional team and stakeholder expectations to execute on product strategy and providing education to requestors to determine prioritization based on tangible benefits and/or customer experience.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Legally authorized to work in the US.
- Experience working as a Product Manager in a modern software development-based enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern software development product management practices and integrated systems, specifically the extreme programming (XP) principles of paired programming, test-driven development, and continuous delivery.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, fluid environment where priorities shift frequently.
- Experience communicating and influencing functional and technical stakeholders at all levels in the organization.
- Experience working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern software design and development team.
- Experience creating, prioritizing, and accepting customer stories.
- Experience leading customer research and testing to understand needs.
- Experience identifying goals, metrics, and analysis to measure product value.
- Experience leading competitive analysis and analysis.
- Strong understanding of customer needs and market trends.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Strong product management skills, including product development, launch, and maintenance.
