Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources courses.
- Manage classroom and shop settings to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
- Serve as an active FFA Advisor, guiding students in the development of leadership skills, career exploration, and community service.
- Prepare students to earn industry-based certifications by teaching relevant skills and competencies.
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community partners to promote student success.
- Utilize commercial and non-commercial power tools safely and effectively, demonstrating proper handling and usage techniques.
- Create interactive, hands-on projects that promote student engagement and motivation.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress to parents and administrators.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in agricultural education.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- A valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsements for Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources.
- A valid Texas driver's license and the ability to drive district vehicles and haul trailers.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in safety procedures and the proper use of power tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the agriculture industry.
- Involvement with the FFA organization as a participant, advisor, or volunteer.
- Knowledge of industry-based certifications and the skills required to achieve them.
- Experience working with high school students and developing engaging lesson plans.
